Don't Be People Pleasers

Galatians 1:10 (NIV)  "Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God?  Or am I trying to please men?  If I were still trying to please men.  I would not be a servant of Christ."

A huge pitfall in life is living to please other people.  The old saying, "You can please some of the people some of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time" is true.  There was never a more perfect person who walked on this earth than Jesus Christ.  The same people who hailed him as King when he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey one day, were the same people who cried, "crucify him" the next.  If we do receive man's approval, it is fleeting and may be lost, but God's approval will never waiver.  This is the only approval we should pursue.

The last part of this scripture brings another fact to light, we cannot fully serve Christ when we are trying to please men.  We can't serve two masters, we will follow the one we are most compelled to please!

May our hearts and desire be to value the approval of God and not the approval of people.
